mentaliti makcik2
hari tu aku jumpa makcik A. kira jarang jugalah aku jumpa dia. sedang seronok lepak2 sambil sembang2 dengan makcik A, tiba2 aku buka cerita tentang nenek kawan aku yang awet muda. tengok muka nenek tu macam yang jenis makan ulam. orang dulu2 kan suka makan ulam. lagipun kawan aku cerita, nenek dia memang jaga makan. aku kagum dengan tahap kesihatan mental dan fizikal serta rupa dia yang nampak sebaya dengan anak2 nya.
aku : hari tu saya pergi rumah kawan saya. jumpa nenek dia. nenek dia nampak muda sangat. kalau duduk sebelah ayah dia, nampak macam adik beradik je.
makcik A : dia tu mesti 'memakai' la tu. (dengan muka selamba).
senafas je aku dengar ayat tu dari dia. aku kira semua faham apa maksud 'memakai' tu. aku pun hairan. entah macam mana boleh sampai ke situ makcik ni fikir? padahal kawan dia sendiri, makcik B, pun awet muda macam tu juga. kalau makcik B tu duduk dengan anak2, orang cakap macam kawan2 je. tak ada pula makcik A nak fikir pasal 'memakai' ni? aku sengaja buat muka confused dan cakap kat makcik tu:
aku : eh, tak kot. makcik ni.. tak baik la fikir macam tu. (sambil gelak2).
makcik tu tersengih2 malu. lepas tu dia macam nak cover balik ayat dia tadi.
makcik A : eh, tak. maksud makcik, dia tu mesti 'memakai' bedak2 atau cosmetic products lain. ade la tu.
hurmm.. aku senyum je. bukan niat aku nak kurang ajar menegur orang yang lagi tua. tapi kalau salah yang kita terang2 nampak, takkan kita nak biar kan? itu pun dah habis berhati2 aku jaga ayat tak nak bagi dia terasa. mungkin juga dia berniat nak bergurau.
mentaliti makcik2. selalu kalau tengok dalam tv pun kita dah marah. inikan pula jumpa depan mata. tak ada beza makcik2 kampung atau kl. semuanya sama je. kenapa perlu terlalu negatif? menuduh melulu tanpa usul periksa. aku memang kurang berkenan bab melulu2 ni. fikir dulu sebelum buat. fikir orang lain juga, bukan diri sendiri je. kita buat dengan satu cara, orang lain terima berbeza2. kadang2 kita tak sedar apa yang kita rasa betul, orang lain anggap salah. the thing is, don't judge people easily. there is more to a person than what you see or hear. positive is the way to go. it makes everything a lot happier. tak gitu?
just one year to go.
i can't believe i'm already in the end of my third year of studying chemical engineering. it felt almost too soon and now i'm already preparing for my internship. what a semester these past four months have been. since the beginning of this semester i've stopped dancing for a while so i can focus more on my studies. goodness, do i miss dancing now. this semester i'm all about getting my grades up - which by far is going pretty good. my final exam starts this week. yesterday, to be exact, and the first paper went really well. i was all smiles when it ended. although, it is still way too soon to be celebrating. i still have four more papers and when i'm done with that, i'll be going back to kl immediately to prepare for my internship.
i'm excited and at the same time nervous to start my internship once my exams ended.
musim durian dah mula!!
Yeay!! Musim durian dah nak mula lagi!! Tak sabar rasa nak balik kampung makan durian longgok berbakul2. Teringat pula dulu waktu kami sekeluarga sekali dengan nenek, makcik2, pakcik2 dan sepupu sepapat menyerbu sebakul besar durian sebab tengah musim. Kebetulan masa tu raya aidilfitri dan giliran kami sekeluarga beraya di Malaysia. Sampai sakit2 perut kami melayan durian. Ada yang sampai demam2 siap. Orang kata, tak payah mengaku orang Perak lah kalau tak makan durian. Hahaha..saya setuju!
Disebabkan tak sabar nak tunggu betul2 musim durian, hari Khamis lepas saya dan En. Kopi 'O' pun pergi lah ke Kuantan dengan misi mencari durian. Sebenarnya En. Kopi 'O' yang teringin sangat nak makan durian. Saya biasa je sebab sebelum tu dah makan dengan roommate2 terchenta. Disebabkan keteringinan yang tak dapat dibendung, saya pun temanlah En. Kopi 'O' pergi menjejak durian.
Jalan punya jalan, kami ternampak ada satu gerai tepi jalan jual durian. Ada dua orang apek jaga durian tu. Kami pun berhenti tepi jalan dan pergi meninjau2. Harga durian masa tu agak mahal sebab belum betul2 musim lagi. Tapi sebab teringin sangat nak makan, En. Kopi 'O' tak kisah. Dia beli juga. So kami beli sebiji durian D24 dengan harga RM28. Beli sebiji je sebab yang nak makan kami berdua je. 'Biar mahal asal tak kempunan'.
Dah kata teringin sangat nak makan, memanglah tak tahan bau durian tu bila letak dalam bonet. Rasa nak buka dan makan masa tu juga. Tapi kena cari tempat yang sesuai. So kami pun pergi ke Teluk Cempedak. (mana lagi tempat sesuai nak menikmati makanan, mestilah kat pantai kan!) Bila dah buka durian tu lagi lah kami teruja. Isi durian tu SANGAT tebal, gebu dan manis! Tebal sangat sampai saya hanya larat makan seulas je. By the time nak makan ulas kedua, saya dah tak larat nak habiskan. Apa lagi, En. Kopi 'O' pun seronok la habiskan yang selebihnya.
Sekian cerita pengembaraan kami mencari durian di kala musimnya baru nak mula. Akhirnya memang kami puas hati dapat makan durian yang sangat sedap. Oh ye, maaf lah gambar kualiti Sony Ericsson 2 megapixels je. Itu je yang ada masa tu. Hehehe~

Anda semua dijemput datang ke SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE! anjuran UMP Orchestra. Macam-macam jenis persembahan akan dipersembahkan oleh macam-macam jenis kumpulan. Band ada, tarian ada, teater ada, puisi ada, nasyid pun ada. Pendek kata, semua lah ada. InsyaAllah saya dan rakan-rakan juga akan berpentas dalam slot teater dan puisi. Sekarang ni sedang dalam proses latihan and perahan idea. Ajak kawan2, pakwe-makwe, adik beradik. Mari kita sama2 memeriahkan SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE!
another picnic!
I went for another picnic last weekend and this time it's with my groovy roomies! My roomies and I had planned for our girls'-day-out since last month. Early planning is pretty much necessary since it's very rare for all four of us to be available in the same weekend. So I told them about my picnic with Mr Kopi 'O' last month - I posted about it here - and since they are all also fans of picnics and parties, we all agreed to have a picnic party by the beach. I wanted to let them taste the famous Gelora Curry Puff I had mentioned and my most favourite burger of all time - Burgermbira!
So we left UMP at about 11 am and were headed for Kuantan right away. We did a little bit of shopping before heading to Taman Gelora at about 4.30 pm for the fluffy curry puffs. We settled on the far end of Teluk Chempedak beach where there are not as many people compared to the other parts of the beach. We had so much fun eating in the friendly breeze while posing for the camera. It was definitely a blast!

Gelora Curry Puff
If you are ever in Kuantan, there is one place that you just HAVE to go. You must've heard about the beautiful Teluk Cempedak Beach (TC) which is quite a popular spot in Kuantan. On the way to TC, you'll find another beach (Kuantan has a number of beautiful beaches) known as Taman Gelora Beach. There's a small stall at the edge of Taman Gelora's carpark which serves mouth watering curry puff. The stall is owned by a Malay family and is usually open only for a short time of the day. The curry puffs are well sought after that most of the time, you would have to queue up to buy them.
Mr. Kopi 'O' and I have been drooling for these puffs for a very, very long time. We would always go out with these savory curry puffs in our minds. However, every time we arrived at the park (which is about 5.30 pm - 6.00 pm), it would always be too late and the stall closed. I have even thought seriously about taking the stall's owner's phone number so I would know when it will be opened again. We usually end up eating some place else.
So last Tuesday, we planned to go out early just so we can catch the stall's business hours. We went a bit too early and at about 4 pm, we head straight to Taman Gelora. Mr. Kopi 'O' bought a plastic bag full of the puffy puffs. They were fat and yummy!
We ate some of it, and went on with our main plan which is to have a picnic at Teluk Cempedak Beach. So we went there and continued eating the puffs on the breezy beach. The beautiful weather made the curry puffs a lot tastier. Mr. Kopi 'O' bought so many that by the time we ended our picnic by the beach, the plastic bag was still half-filled with curry puffs. After the picnic we went home with a very content heart that we finally get to eat the delicious curry puffs.
PS: I should have taken the rest of the puffs instead of letting Mr. Kopi 'O' finish them. I'm craving for it again now! Owh, and thank you Mr. Kopi 'O'! ♥
happy 21
yesterday i turned 21. yes, people, i'm a year older (and hopefully wiser). i remember in the past years i always blog when it comes to my birthday. well, it's my third year in pahang and while i'm here i've celebrated my birthday in three very different ways. with three groups of very different people. at three different places. and i've enjoyed all three of them. very much.
during those years i would usually blog a lot about how i spent my birthdays. or how i felt during those days. but then again, i would blog elaborately about almost anything back then. now, however, even a single picture is hard to post when i've got a neverending list of things to do. time just flies now with so many things to do in so little time.
i remember my family would throw birthday parties when i was a little kid. friends and family would come with presents. the anticipation of knowing what was in those wrapped boxes and the excitement of making a wish before blowing the candle always made me a content and gleeful birthday girl.
i guess those kinds of celebration don't really apply to a lady in her 20s with so much going on for her anymore. no, i'm more happy with a single wish of 'Happy Birthday' which only means that people appreciate me enough to remember my birthday. and i appreciate that very much. it's the thought that counts. right, wishers? i do consider presents as bonuses, though. =]

yeah, i'm 21 now. doesn't differ much from being 20. it still feels the same. it'll probably feel different again when i'm turning 30. maybe i'll feel the same nervous/excited feeling like the time i turned 20. hurmm... maybe it is the change of the first digit that causes that nervous/excited-ness. whatever it is, i'm sure i'll be happier every other year. right now, i'm just focusing on being happy living life.

malam ini dan dua malam lepas.
dua malam lepas saya dan geng pergi jalan2 di pantai Teluk Cempedak seperti yang biasa kami lakukan di malam2 sebelum ni. kami dah beli tiket wayang tengah malam. sambil nak tunggu tengah malam tu kami pun layanlah geng bob tengah busking masa tu. memang best layan geng ni busking. sebab mereka bukan setakat main alat muzik akustik biasa je. ada alat muzik pelik2 dari negara lain pun mereka main. memang feel.
entah macam mana last2 geng saya pun join geng mereka. kami pun nyanyilah sebuah dua lagu. saya minta mereka main lagu Fynn Jamal, 150 Juta. mereka pun layankan je lah. sesiapa yang ada facebook boleh tengok video kat sini. geng saya tak hebat pun. join suka2 je.
ok. itu cerita dua malam lepas. tolak tepi dulu.
malam ni pula ada puisi riong. buat pertama kali puisi riong diadakan di UMP. fynn jamal dan ramli sarip ada perform. siapa nak lepas peluang baik macam ni kan? saya dan geng pun pergilah. saya dah memang eksaited nak jumpa kak fynn. itu je agenda utama saya sebenarnya.
nak dijadikan cerita tiba2 kami nampak bob atas pentas. tengah main muzik sekali dengan fynn jamal. baru kami perasan yang geng kak fynn tu adalah geng yang kami join busking kat TC dua malam lepas. lagilah kami eksaited. persembahan mereka spontan je. saya suka.
lepas habis show saya dan geng pergi jumpa kak fynn kat belakang pentas. sembang2 sikit sambil ambil2 gambar. kami jumpa papa rock juga.
kepada bob dan geng juga kak fynn, kita jumpa di PLORE nanti ye!

RAYA '10
Happy Raya everybody! Yeah, I'm actually still in the mood for Raya celebrations. I've said it lots of time: this year's Raya is especially fun. Maybe it's because my family flew home from Brunei. Maybe it's because it has been a long time since I last went back to Tanjung Malim, Perak. Maybe it's because the whole Tok Rahman family had not gathered for a while. Or maybe it's all of the reasons mentioned.
My family (Papa, Mama, Aa, Aiman and Adib) arrived from Brunei a few days before Raya and we went to Tanjung Malim on Raya eve. Not everybody was there this year but it was merry enough. Pictures were taken, actions were recorded, moments were captured. It was indeed a lot of fun especially with the little nieces and nephews running around looking cute!
So again, HAPPY RAYA TO ALL!!

meet the terrapins!
Remember my two friends, Sya and Ain who came from Johore the other day? Well, they brought these two cute little terrapins all the way from Johore (so, it can be assumed that these terrapins are Johoreans). My roomate - Ramlah - and I decided to call it Nakatsu-kun and Ayumi-chan. Obviously the names are influenced by Japanese comic characters because we love Japanese comic series! They are actually (apology) presents from Sya. =]

Manifestasi Teater Malaysia
Setelah berjaya di sesi kelayakan, KIRANA THEATER PRODUCTIONS sekali lagi mementaskan naskhah DETIK karya Idham Hadi di peringkat kebangsaan. Pementasan telah diadakan pada 3 dan 4 April yang lepas di Taman Budaya Kuala Lumpur. Pementasan kali ini memberi 1001 pengalaman baru pada aku. Banyak yang aku pelajari dalam masa lima hari latihan. Ibarat satu keluarga, segala suka duka kami lalui bersama. Rindu nak lepak depan TV sambil makan coklat dengan korang!

Alkisah hari Jumaat yang lepas dua orang sahabat lama aku dari zaman KMK dulu berniat datang ke UMP kerana konsert amal MATAHARI yang ada Faizal Tahir, Farah AF & Amy Search. Setelah selesai test untuk hari itu mereka pun dengan gigihnya berangkat dari Johor. Tapi malang nasib mereka hanya sempat masuk dewan ketika Amy tengah nyanyi lagu terakhir - Isabella. Apa2 pun, konsert tu memang best and memang seronok ada mereka kat sini. HOYEH!
Di Udara - Efek Rumah Kaca
Efek Rumah Kaca is an Indonesian indie band. First time dengar lagu mereka di blog KakDek. Then Jumaat lepas tengok mereka perform live di Annexe Gallery, Central Market. Memang best tak hengat la. Music simple tapi sedap je dengar. And the words, beautiful. Lagu 'Di Udara' kat bawah ni paling aku suka. KakDek kata lagu ni 'macam *ginih* (thumbs up)'. Memang pun. Lepas dengar ERK perform live lagu ni aku terus beli album dia. Lagu ni dalam album pertama ERK.

I'm proudly a '-ty'!
If you asked me a year ago I would never have wanted to be 20. I would have said that I just want to stay a '-teen' forever. Because being a '-ty' sounds OLD. It doesn't sound fun. So I really didn't want to be a '-ty'. I thought that when the time comes, I'd be reluctant to join the '-ty' group. It seems that I thought wrong. As I was living the last days of my life as a '-teen', I realized that being a '-ty' isn't that bad. It's actually kinda fun. I was ready to be a '-ty' and I was actually excited about it. So here I am, proudly announcing that I am already 20 years of age. YEAY! 20 years of living life (almost) to the fullest. And I'm truly grateful for that. Because in the end it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.
And since it's my 20th birthday, I want to play a game of Twenty Questions with you guys! It is my birthday, people, so humor me. (*_*)
For those who didn't already know the game you can read about it here. However, I'm not playing the traditional TQ. In my version of TQ, you get to ask a maximum of 20 questions and I will answer ALL of them in my next post. It can be a simple yes-or-no question or a long explanatory one. Silly or complicated. Personal or general. It can be about cars, or houses, or animals. It can be related to me or something way out of the topic. It can be anything you can ever think of.

kuatkan semangat.
Pagi tadi aku dapat satu berita buruk. Aku kehilangan sesuatu yang aku sayang. Kepada sesiapa yang suatu masa dulu sering berkata2 dan mempersendakan tentang ini kepada aku seolah2 mendoakan ianya berlaku, puaslah hati kamu! Memang ini yang kamu mahu kan?
Satu demi satu berita aku terima dan tiada satu pun yang gembira. Aku terima panggilan yang mengejutkan sekali lagi. Kali kedua untuk hari ini. Seorang sahabat-sampai-mati aku sedang dalam waktu yang amat sukar baginya. Aku yang mendengar pun dah tak tertahan sebak di dada. Tapi dia masih dengan semangatnya. Ya, itu memang salah satu kekuatan dia.
Kepada sahabat-sampai-mati itu, kuatkan semangat. Ingat segala ujian dari Allah itu ada hikmahnya. Aku doakan semuanya akan kembali pulih seperti sediakala. Bila2 kau perlukan aku, roger.
