people, meet BETTY.

Remember Billy? I mentioned him in one of my post here. Well, Mr. Kopi 'O' made him and he is now sitting soundly next to my laptop. He is being a great company especially when my roommates went home for the weekends. And as a reward to that, I made him a friend. People, meet Betty.

However, they only get to play around together for a short while because very recently, I gave Betty to Mr. Kopi 'O' so he could take care of her. I hope he takes care of her well. =]

papercraft.

i've got a new hobby. well, technically, it's not really a NEW hobby since the first time i did it was during my school years. sometime around 2002 or 2003. so what's the new hobby?

it's PAPERCRAFT. i read about it from a friend's magazine sometime last week. i was on my holiday and since i haven't got anything more interesting to do, i figured papercraft would be a fun thing to pass my time with. at first, i didn't have any clue what 'papercraft' is. i was just attracted with the pictures of the completed models. you can build a model of just about anything. from a simple animal form to a very detailed model of Yamaha MT-01 bike or an elaborate model of Saint Basil's Cathedral. they were CUTE!

however, after further reading about it in the mag, i got the idea. then, i remembered that i've done one like it about 9 years ago. but at that time, i didn't know it was called 'papercraft'. i just thought it was fun to do. it required a lot of patience, though. i was helping a friend make a model of a japanese anime. it was really fun to do and by the time i finished, i was reluctant to hand the completed model back to him.

so, to all those out there who still haven't got a clue to what i am babbling about, no worries because i will show/explain to you exactly what i'm talking about. so, here goes:

PAPERCRAFT

what you need:

1. a pair of scissors

it helps to have a very sharp one. you don't want to ruin the tiny, delicate pieces while you're cutting them. however, BE VERY CAREFUL WITH SCISSORS. if you're under 10 years old, get an adult to supervise you. =]

2. glue

this is needed to glue the parts that have been cut out. it helps if you use a bottle of glue with a pointed nozzle. the small pointed nozzle makes it easier to glue the smaller parts so you won't make any mess while gluing.

3. a printer

this is used to print out the design that will be cut out. you can use any type of printer. you can print it in colors or simple black and white. whichever that suits you best. although, it will look more realistic if you print it out with high quality photo colors.

4. A4 papers

to build a stronger model of papercraft, use thicker sheets of A4 papers. right now i'm using 120 gsm white A4 papers which, by far, serves me quite well. but if you are planning to do a detailed, more elaborate model, use thicker paper.

5. papercraft pattern

this is the pattern that you will print out, cut and glue to build your model. you can easily find this on the internet. simply google 'papercraft' and you'll find tonnes of fun pattern of variable categories to choose from. it will look like this.

6. patience

this is a vital necessity of the process. cutting and gluing the model must be done very carefully and neatly and therefore takes up quite some time. it helps to have a partner especially when you are doing a bigger piece. also, the papers need just the right amount of tension and pressure from your hand. learn to control that well and you're ready to build your first papercraft!

so those were all you needed to start your very own papercraft hobby. let me show the ones that i've done!

this is the first model that i did after i read about it in the mag. it's a model of a rabbit which you can get from Canon Crative Park website. You can print out the pattern here.

saya dan kawan-kawan saya impikan sebuah van Volkswagen klasik yang rupanya lebih kurang macam ni

kami ingat nak cari van macam ni dan kongsi duit beli. dan bila kami dah dapat cari van yang gila comel ni, kami nak namakan dia VAN KITA. kami nak beli cat warna-warni, isi belon2 kecil dengan cat yang kami beli tu, bawa kereta ni ke tengah2 kawasan letak kereta atau pantai (atau belakang rumah siapa2) dan baling belon2 berisi cat tu ke van yang kami kongsi2 beli tu. bila dah selesai main baling2 cat kereta tu akan nampak meriah dan ceria macam kami2 juga.

lebih kurang macam ni la design kereta tu bila dah dibaling2 dengan cat tapi dijamin lagi comel dari kereta dalam gambar diatas. dan kalau kami ada duit lebih2 sikit kami ingat nak ubahsuai interior van ni biar selesa sikit. kalau nak mewah lagi boleh la tukar jadi macam ni.

tapi kemewahan interior tak adalah penting sangat. yang penting keselesaan penumpang bila van ni digunakan untuk tour atau roadtrip ke mana2 pulau atau konsert. bila dah ada van ni nanti senang nak gerak ke mana2. senang nak buka puasa kat Teluk Cempedak atau Tanjung Lumpur. senang nak sahur dekat Gambang Point atau Al-Falah. senang nak pergi bercuti di Genting Highlands atau Pulau Redang. senang nak pergi menonton persembahan teater di Istana Budaya atau Stor DBP. senang nak pergi roadtrip spontaneous yang saja2 tanpa apa2 plan.

Remember my two friends, Sya and Ain who came from Johore the other day? Well, they brought these two cute little terrapins all the way from Johore (so, it can be assumed that these terrapins are Johoreans). My roomate - Ramlah - and I decided to call it Nakatsu-kun and Ayumi-chan. Obviously the names are influenced by Japanese comic characters because we love Japanese comic series! They are actually (apology) presents from Sya. =]

Manifestasi Teater Malaysia

Setelah berjaya di sesi kelayakan, KIRANA THEATER PRODUCTIONS sekali lagi mementaskan naskhah DETIK karya Idham Hadi di peringkat kebangsaan. Pementasan telah diadakan pada 3 dan 4 April yang lepas di Taman Budaya Kuala Lumpur. Pementasan kali ini memberi 1001 pengalaman baru pada aku. Banyak yang aku pelajari dalam masa lima hari latihan. Ibarat satu keluarga, segala suka duka kami lalui bersama. Rindu nak lepak depan TV sambil makan coklat dengan korang!

Twenty Answers (and more)!

I posted something game-like on my birthday here. In my version of Twenty Questions, you get to ask a maximum of 20 questions and I promised to answer ALL of them. So this is where I spill it all out. But before I get on with my answers, I would like to sincerely apologize for the long delay of this post. I haven't got enough time to write and post. Still haven't got enough time actually but I'm trying my best to squeeze in some writing time.

So here goes, these are the questions from the people who asked them.

DAOZ

1. What is ur biggest fear?

My biggest fear would be to lose the people I love. Because they have always been my rock and the reason for me to keep on going.

2. What is one of your dirty little secret? (lucky you I didn't ask for the dirtiest)

Oooohh..everybody loves a dirty little secret. Here's one of mine: I used to have a crush on a fellow Senandikan.

3. What is on top of your wishlist?

I do have a list of things I want to do and have which I called 'The Ultimately Awesome Wishlist'. Funny thing is apart from the DSLR and a new guitar which are also in the list, the number one thing I want is to teach a kindergarten. Hahaha.. I don't know why but I just feel that teaching a kindergarten is a must-have experience.

4. What is your current favourite tune?

At the moment 'Dead and Gone' by T.I and Justin Timberlake in on loop non-stop on my phone. I just love the words. Besides, what's not to love about JT? Can I hear a 'Hell Yeah!' from the ladies?!

5. What is your most anticipated movie to watch this year?

Is 'PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN ORIGINS: JACK SPARROW' in the list? Because I've been anticipating that movie for a long time now. But if that's not available, I'm so looking forward to ALICE IN WONDERLAND, THE BOOK OF ELI and HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART 1.

6. Paragliding or bungee jumping?

Bunjee jumping without a doubt! I've been wanting to bunjee jump since god knows when. It's a sure thing to be my would-be hobby. I just LOVE adrenaline rush.

7. How do you like your birthday to be celebrated? (in a logical way, to have Johnny Depp on your birthday is considered impossible)

Since JD is out of the picture, I guess having a birthday splash with my beloved friends and family at Sunway Lagoon would be awesome too.

8. If you aren't studying chemical engineering, what probably are you studying?

This is easy. MUSIC! I remember asking my mom if I could play the piano, violin and guitar when I was 4. Been in love with music ever since. And now, even with a chemical engineering degree on the way, I'm still discretely pursuing that dream. Then I can be the singing chemist. *wink*

9. Do you believe in magic?Y/N

I do! I believe everywhere in this world there's a bit of magic around us. No, I'm not talking about those black magic or dark arts or whatever.

10. What do you think about me? Explain briefly (honestly).

The sweetest friend anyone could ever had who lives for the details and all the little things that makes life memorable but can sometimes be very emotionally unstable.

11. If you could have ANY animal as a pet, what would it be?

If I could have ANY pet regardless of anything, I would want a Yorkshire Terrier. (A garden full of butterflies would be nice too.)

12. If you're to be named after a place, what would you choose?

Marseilles. The oldest city in France.

13. Being grown up and growing up, which is better?

Growing up. That's where the most fun is. You get to make mistakes and do silly things. The fun stops when you are a grown up.

14. What is the weirdest thing happened to you?

This happened when I was in high school. My friends and I were walking home from school and there was an old man walking in our direction. Suddenly as he was passing us he held my arm and looked at me without saying a word. Shortly afterwards he let go and left. Up until now I still didn't know why he did that.

15. Do you agree to this; life is a maze and love is a riddle.

Yup. You have to figure your way in life and find the clue through love.

16. If you could posses a superpower,what would it be and what would your supername be?

I'd pick power mimicry like Peter Petrelli have in Heroes. Then I can have multiple superpowers.

17. What is your wildest dream?

My wildest dream would be to be with Oprah and help her make other people's wildest dream come true.

18. Define Afiqah (eQa) Rahim in 5 words.

Not your average petite friend.

19. Complete this. The world will not be the same without eQa because ________.

It will lose a huge amount of bubbliness.

20. Say you are time traveled and met yourself as a kid,what would you say to little eQa?

"When you are 18 and waiting for university calls, do not accept the ones from USM and UKM because you'll find great friends in UMP." Hahahaha~

Actually, I really don't. because The Eqa is seriously way awesomer than The Aa. Oh wait, I forgot, you are Lexus' obedient doodie master. That definitely evens it out. Ergo, The Aa's awesomeness = The Eqa's awesomeness.

2. Will you name your awesome third daughter after me?

That depends on what wedding gift you'll be giving me. Hahaha.. I'll probably take that into consideration since I haven't figured out the name for my third daughter yet. Let's see...does your name goes with any kind of flower?

3. What would you feel like doing if you see a shemale who looks like your bestfriend?

I would befriend that shemale. Hahahahahaah.

4. Who are you obsessing over right now?

It will always be Johny Depp.

5. Do you remember who said this to me last year? 'Adek, Lexus doodie.' :D hehee

If I remembered right, it was me.

6. Don't you just LOOVE Blu-Tack?

Sorry, not really a huge fan of Blu-Tack. Though I am a total Magic-Clipper freak. It sucks that I can't find any in Malaysia.

7. I'm planning to go to Germany and date Tom Kaulitz. Wanna join?

I'll go to Germany with you but I'm afraid I won't be joining you and Tom. I have other plans.

8. Will you buy me an iPod nano 5g in orange?

No. The orange one is mine. I'll buy you the red one. How about that?

9. Do you think that you're as sexy as Amitabh Bhachan? HAHAHA.

No way! Amitabh Bhachan ia waaaayyyyy sexier. Hahahaha...

10. I believe in Aliens. Do you?

Yup. I also believe they look a lot like Najeeha Rahim.

11. Is it true that there's a spot on your head that if a bullet hits it, your whole head blows up?

Isn't that spot on the WHOLE HEAD??

I'm trying my bestest best to look like I do.

Let's see.. Tall. Fair. The son of a doctor. Able to argue with you on either silly things or neuron-twisting topics. Knows how to do his hair right. And totally knows his music.

Are those really the only options I have? Then I'd rather have it on the nose (of my youngest brother).

To say that I care about EVERYTHING you say would be a lie because sometimes you just talk crap. Oh wait a minute, I do care about your crap. Hahahah..

Me. That's just how self-centered I am.

21. Did you know that I was gonna ask you 21 questions but then I remembered that this 'thingy' is called 20-questions so I decided to not ask you the 21st question?

I'm proudly a '-ty'!

If you asked me a year ago I would never have wanted to be 20. I would have said that I just want to stay a '-teen' forever. Because being a '-ty' sounds OLD. It doesn't sound fun. So I really didn't want to be a '-ty'. I thought that when the time comes, I'd be reluctant to join the '-ty' group. It seems that I thought wrong. As I was living the last days of my life as a '-teen', I realized that being a '-ty' isn't that bad. It's actually kinda fun. I was ready to be a '-ty' and I was actually excited about it. So here I am, proudly announcing that I am already 20 years of age. YEAY! 20 years of living life (almost) to the fullest. And I'm truly grateful for that. Because in the end it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.

And since it's my 20th birthday, I want to play a game of Twenty Questions with you guys! It is my birthday, people, so humor me. (*_*)

My Little MoMo

Remember I once said here that I am going to have a pet turtle and name it MoMo? Well, I finally did! Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce you to MoMo. My new pet turtle and here's a bit more about him:

It's a he.
He love's watching TV and gets very excited when he hears music.
Just like the owner, he loves heights and likes to climb up high places (I'm thinking of bringing him bungee jumping someday).
He became a member of the family on December 28th, 2009 so that made it his official birthday.
When I first got him, he was only 3.5 cm in diameter. (So cute!)
He also likes to go sight-seeing.
Very prone to eye-sore.
His favourite trick is play dead (and it STILL scares me each time).

This is MoMo posing beside his food bottle. I'm not sure if he intends to be a model when he grows up but he is definitely showing some signs here. Whatever his plans for the future may be, he'll just have to consult it with me first.

This is MoMo's house. It's where he swims and crawls and does the somersaults. This is also where he sleeps and eat and since he's still a growing baby, he sleeps A LOT. Too much that it worries me sometimes.

This white thingy is his water conditioner which is also his source of calcium. It's supposed to make his shell hard and shiny. This thing dissolves slowly into the water and will in time lose it's initial shape. MoMo used to think that it was a living albino turtle and made it his friend. He only realises that it's just a piece of rock after three days communicating with it and never get any reply.

So that, ladies and gentlemen, is my Little MoMo. I'm hoping he would grow up to be a handsome and happy turtle. *wink*

why i LOVE night lab session:

1. It's freezing cold in the lab.
2. Using the instruments and machines is so much fun.
3. It feels like I'm in one of those CSI labs. (You know how much I'd love to be one of the CSIs)
4. Because of this instructor, Encik Anuar. Sempoi habis. Haha.

PS: I'm thinking of having a tortoise as a pet. Cemburu dengan Kamal punya April dan June.

enTOURage menyePAGHETT

Here's how to make a spaghetti the ENTOURAGE way:

STEP 1: Make sure it's 1 o'clock in the morning.
THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP. OTHERWISE, IT WON'T BE THE SAME ENTOURAGE SPAGHETTI.

STEP 2: Make sure you have all the ingredients.

Spaghetti

Sauce

Mushrooms

ENTOURAGE also uses beef meatballs.

STEP 3: Prepare/cut/dice everything that needs to be prepared/cut/diced.

STEP 4: Boil the spaghetti with extra patience.

STEP 5: Cook everything else together to make the sauce. (by 'together' I mean everybody must be there while cooking.)

STEP 6: Take turns to stir well. Make sure everybody had a turn.

STEP 7: Voila! Enjoy your Spaghetti a la ENTOURAGE!

saye hapat hunge santek!

Thanks to Daoz, I got my own Flip Flap for free! Heee.. He mentioned it in his blog. We really liked the cute little Flippy Flap that flips and flaps when it gets sunlight. I wanted to buy one at the pasar malam that day but Daoz insisted that he only wants the one from Mesra Mall. (Padahal sama je bendanya. Ketidakfahaman di situ). So when he went back to Kemaman he bought two of those cute thingy and I got mine when he got back from Kemaman. Yippee..!
